One of the Blue Comet's Observation cars is part of a diner right down the
road from me in Clinton (really Union Twp), NJ - right off Exit 12 of I-78...

I erred in my description of the signal bridge: it's west of Elizabeth, not Newark, of course.

That signal bridge is awesome!!!   :o

Does that mean we can expect some signal bridge kits based on CNJ prototype?  ;)  That must be the one at Lorraine, not hard to tell because it was the only place with a road crossing on the CNJ mainline.

Gregg, yup there is just enough room between tracks 1 & 2 for the buses. I still might build the part from tower "A" to the station as a 3x8 photo diorama, maybe build a layout to go with it if I ever win the lottery.

Nice pictures, David. Thanks for posting them.

PS: What is that phallic symbol looking building in the background of the terminal facility photo?

Hmmmmmm.  Although anything could be done, I'm just going to leave things at, "I think it's cool."   ;D

I guess the last one out forgot to turn out the lights. Must be some really good bulbs to last 40 years?

Check out the Livermore Fire Departments bulb....106 years

Some of the first light bulbs invented by Edison still work! They just mfg them so you will need to buy new again.

Chulvis, I don't know what that building is or who erected it, so to speak.  The Google Maps ariel view shows it under construction. However, I did run across this 1898 topo map of the Jersey City area. The terminal is near Communipaw.  This map BTW clearly shows that the Statue of Liberty is in New York, not New Jersey--so how did any "debate" ever arise?  http://historical.maptech.com/getImage.cfm?fname=stil98ne.jpg&state=NJ

As I understand the debate, the border between the states, in the water, covering who owned what small islands are out there was always in contention. But it wasn't too big a deal until there was something on one of the islands that mattered and that something was the Statue of Liberty  ::)

The debate seems to have been settled in New Jersey's favor. Present day maps (NY state official highway map, NJ state highway map, Rand McNally and Google Maps) all show the Hudson River boundary clearly east of Liberty Island and Ellis Island.

That's for sure.  I replaced all of the bulbs in my front light fixture, and they all burned out within two weeks of each other.

I remember reading about the Livermore Lightbulb when I was a Kid.  I also recently read an article (I think it was in This Old House) about a house in New Jersey that has the dining room lit with dozens of original low-wattage Edison bulbs on the ceiling.

Carbon filament bulbs are still available...

Back on topic, those pin-connected trusses in the Terminal are wonderful.
