Ack.  It brings back horrible memories of the Chevy Citation that my wife and I received as a wedding present.

I'll never forget dropping it off for an alignment, and coming back to the garage only to find the whole front end in a million pieces on the floor, and the mechanic shaking his head ruefully...

I just hope Toyota sent a "thank you" note to GM for all the sales it garnered as a result of the Chevy Citation...

I'm holding out for car-load of 1968 Plymouth Satellites and Dodge Coronets.

It was a bloated Chevette with the soul of a Vega and the suspension of a boat trailer...  Oh yeah, I had that great GM feeling, alright...  FEH.

Anyone who says a Citation is lacking in the heart and soul departments never used one to a stretch of the PA Turnpike at 120 late one night, or pushed it to 70+ on a narrow, winding 2-lane road when the power steering was out.

And every single November 25th I pour a quart of 10W-30 into the gutter in honor of my fallen Blue Bomber. I consistently pushed it well beyond its design envelope and gave it 5 years of Penn Central-style maintenance before I cracked the transmission one night trying to flee Pittsburgh.

Nope, I was somewhere between Altoona and Harrisburg. The speedometer in that car only went up to 85, so doing a mile in 32 seconds meant I was actually only doing about 113...my Citation had the V6 that I could really get going when I needed or wanted it to...

My Citation reminded me a lot of a colon...

I was used to driving a 72 Super Beetle, which was just about a jeep.  I could take that baby anywhere.  I tried chasing a train up the Dutch Line one night in the Chevy, and it was all I could do to keep all the parts moving in the same direction.

Shortly after that, both CV's gave out (at about 35K mi).  That was after I had put $1700 into the electrical system just to keep the motor running and the lights on.

After the guy put Humpty Dumpty back together again, I drove it directly to Bob Davidson Ford, and was delighted with the $1000 "Push pull drag or drive" trade I got on a new Tempo.  (5 on the floor with a 4-banger...  It was like having a VW again!)  I got over 140K out of that in 6 years, replacing the clutch around 120, and it was the first of four Fords I've enjoyed over the years.  The wife currently makes the rounds in a Freestar.

Now that I'm an old guy, I drive a steel grey Chrysler that's like driving a cloud...  But I digress...  Hopefully the Fairmont model will also come in the coupe and wagon styles for those of you populating your Microtrains auto racks...
