just a random thought here, but the windows don't come out?

if they do, then maybe the mask will be a little easier to pull off...

the cab i'm working on doesn't have any windows, so i'm just thinking of terms of loco glass here...

Jeff-is what you used the Walthers "Magic Masker"?

Reason I'm asking-I bought some awhile back-haven't used
yet-my plan is to use on some CSX & NS open coal hoppers
for weathering, with intentions of adding these cars to my
collection for my future little layout! ::)

Would your results with the windows make you a little "leery"
of using it on lettering (the big "CSX" & "NS") on the hoppers?
If so, I'll go the "rubber see-ment" route as you've mentioned.

PS-Dawn reminded me tonight that she has a scanner (DUH!-
I knew that! :P) & would scan all my old pics for me-maybe
resulting in some better quality (referring to the Safety Cab pic
I sent you-if they come out better, I can post them all on my
RR Picture Archives site-some GOOD Chessie/Conrail shots circa 1980 IMO!)

Can't wait to see the results tomorrow night-have a feeling this is
gonna be a GOOD challenge!  ;)

They're not "Crown Victorias"-they're known
as "Police Interceptors"

Mr McKluke,
Have you tried a pair of Plastic Tweesers as we use in Etching??, they
shouldn`t scratch your windows at all. And by the way, what in the
world is Rubber Cement, and what is it`s normal application.??

regards,

Jeff have you considered a piece of soft wood ie, tooth pic or a coffee stirrer
these may help, a q-tip damp with alcohol or just the stick from the q-tip.

Or trim a pencil eraser to a point & use that?

I haven't had time to finish making the decal artwork, therefore no decals.

I also still have to figure out a way to do the screen doors on the ends of my proto, as well as a bunch of other stuff.  I did learn that I can scratchbuild truss rods. ;D
