Body Mount Adapter 30 Pack for IM 4750 Hopper by Keystone Customs

UPDATED.  Originally requested by @cbroughton67 several years ago, and recently refined and tested by another customer, Keystone Customs now offers a body mount coupler adapter solution the the MT 1015.

These are not currently available, but I will see if I can offer them print to order.

I may be able to offer one for the N-Possible, but I am not aware of any available dimensions to design to.

Th kit includes 30 adapters and two bolster hole drill fixtures for mounting the adapters.

I don't have any of those cars, but that's quite an ingenious design right there. I'd love to see that adapted to other similar rolling stock that lacks a securing surface for a body-mount coupler.

BTW, where did you get that flat-headed 00-90 screw from?

If you browse thru the instructions, there are better screw solutions, posted by someone here recently. Smaller Phillips style heads.

The customer’s screw I believe is a Walters 00-90. That head is larger than the countersink on the coupler, which is why I am so interested in the 1.2mm screw.

Unfortunately, I am a transition modeler, but if anyone wants to send similar models to me to design to, I could make as many designs as needed. There are considerations like axle clearance and proper coupler height, but the genetics of the adapter are there to copy and modify.

Since @npossible is doing all of his stuff 3d Printed.. hopefully he will design coupler kits for open end cars. (like Micro-Trains used to do for open pilot locomotives.)

Not just this.. but Tank cars, other mfg hoppers ect.

I am definitely planning to convert my tank car platforms to N-Possible draft gear.  I am also looking at ways to body-mount N-Possibles to several hoppers including IM 5161's and 4750's*.  I will not be able to offer them for sale, but I will make the print files available.

I know that Andrew is interested in offering various conversion parts, but only if the basic N-Possible product takes off (as I hope it does).

* The advent of the Tangent 4750's has pushed the priority of the IM 4750 project quite low, I'm afraid.  But not to zero.

Tangent have currently only tooled the Trinity built 4750s in N scale — which have some significant differences with their bolsters and jacking pads relative to the Pullman Standard built 4750s.

NS seem to only have Roanoke built 4750s inherited from NW and Pullman built 4750s inherited from SOU.

Tangent haven't done these using their HO Pullman tooling either.

Your closest model to date would be the Fox Valley 4750 which can still be found on eBay from time to time…

Here's hoping Tangent tool Pullman built 4750s in N scale one day — there's definitely room for another manufacturer, and Tangent certainly knocked it out of the park with the N scale Trinity 4750s.
