Start Planning Your Railway Modellers Meet trip to Vancouver Now!

Springtime in Vancouver is beautiful and it is a great way to end the long winter!  Beyond the meet, there are lots of fun things to do - bring your family and make it a fun vacation for all! For our American neighbors, the exchange rate makes a vacation in Canada less expensive and the meet  has arranged for convenient and inexpensive accommodations just steps from the meet location.

Special Guest Speaker -  Bernard Kempinski

We are excited to announce that Bernard Kempinski will be presenting at the Railway Modellers Meet being held May 4th to May 6th, 2018 at Simon Fraser University’s Burnaby Campus.

Bernie is an active model railroader who has worked in many scales from N through O.  He is proprietor of Alkem Scale Models who has built many models on commission for museums and individuals.  Bernard is a popular speaker at model railroading events and a freelance writer who has written dozens of magazine articles and several books on model railroading, many of them on layout planning.  His latest book from Kalmbach Publishing is “Waterfront Terminals and Operations”, released in 2017.

Bernard will be presenting a clinic on rail/marine modelling as well as a special post-luncheon talk titled “High Tech Approaches Applied to a 19th Century Railroad”.  In his talk he will cover the application of laser cutters, 3D printing, photo etching, battery power and casting techniques to model an unusual U.S. Civil War era steam prototype.  Bernard’s presentation promises to be a fascinating and interesting look at what is possible with the state of the art techniques available to all modellers.

A Growing List of High Quality Activities that the RMMBC is Known For

The Committee is working hard to make the 2018 Railway Modellers Meet even better than previous meets.  This includes Operating sessions, and expanded suite of brand new clinics by fellow modellers from Canada and the U.S., layout tours, model display room and more!

Of special note, TRW's own Scott Lamoureux is planning to present a clinic on the geography and modelling o the Fraser and Thompson canyons.  That clinic is not to be missed!

We will soon announce the opening of registration for the 2018 Railway Modellers Meet.    http://railwaymodellersmeetofbc.ca will have all the details. We will be making additional future announcements on what promises to be another great RMMBC meet.  So please plan to attend. We hope to see you there!
