Wasn't the hedge fund trying to get rid of him?

What makes me shake my head is that it was with the company lawyer, who of course was also shown the door. There had to be pillow talk somewhere along the way of "You know what happens if we're caught, right?" "Yeah. We both lose our phoney-baloney jobs, that's what."

Really smart people can do really dumb things sometimes.

I'm not sure I would call railroad executives "really smart people"

Contaminate a community with hazmat wrecks and get a raise for cutting safety expenses, but sleep with a co worker and you're fired.

None since he was fired for cause.

For once, no "golden parachute for a failed exec!  :D

Norfolk Southern said Shaw won't receive any severance and will have to forfeit any outstanding stock awards because he was fired for cause.

I mean, there are often more to these things than meets the eye.

Maybe the board knew he had to take a hit, and turned a blind eye to the affair, but he could've crossed a line and this was the cheapest way to get rid of him.

It's how intelligence services turn agents.
