And at times we even may responsibly?enjoy some adult beverages with whomever stops by.

The past few years experience contradict the assertion of responsibility in this endeavor.

I haven't been to Springfield, but I know a thing or two about it.

The Altoona N Scale Weekend feels like a big party where many of your friends are there and have brought cool stuff to show off and buy.

Honestly, Springfield feels overwhelming to me. Like, there is a TON of cool stuff, but there's almost too much.

I attend The Altoona N Scale Weekend every year because it's just a ton of fun. Modeling, prototype, hanging out with old and friends, it's great and I'm heart broken when I have to miss it.

So we'll be passing through the areas either Saturday or Sunday.. may have to stop by..

Given a choice. Altoona by a long shot. I'm still on the fence if I'm going to Springfield again this year because it simply is a huge money sink. But Altoona between the people, the local foam havens, the oddball stuff for sale, the layouts. Its just a much better value for time in my opinion. This year I do want to make a pit stop at EBT on the way, I keep forgetting its over there.

Make sure to bring some trains to run if you do.

I've been doing Altoona since it was in the virtual steel oven facility without AC in Bedford, and it was outgrown.

Then to the Jaffa in Altoona, and that was outgrown too.   Mike gambled on moving it to the convention center, and surprise....

And now we've filled that to capacity as well.

I'll be there with my Ttrak modules and the Hickory Valley layout, I'm pretty much shutting down the kits after this year.   Atlas killing my CF7 mechanisms was a true buzzkill.   Maybe by the show somebody can let me look at a new GP20 chassis and see if that might work instead.

I really like Altoona, haven't been to Springfield, thats just too far for me.  Heck, I'm still working and travelling too much for that.

It's hard to beat Altoona, when you add in the Railroader's museum, the curve, and the nearby Everett railroad excursions.  They are running that Saturday behind diesel and that Sunday behind steam with a noon departure - see the web page.   EBT isn't far away either, and they are doing 3 departures both days and it 'sure looks like' the #16 driver is fixed and steam back in service that weekend.

You can literally go to the show in your pajamas!

We can start a whole other thread about the outfits we've seen at train shows....

I'm still mad I couldn't get @chicken45 to roll into the WGH show in Pittsburgh in full Vader gear.
