That looks very much like alligatored asphalt.

While the crackig pattern looks very realistic, it's too "crackly" for my taste.  Maybe it if was some paved area totally abandoned for half a century, but for a lot which is still in use, there should be some less cracked areas.  Patches would be a good idea visually.  Of course I fully expect to be proven wrong due to Ed's Law.

No not at all Pete. Boomer fills in some areas with sand artist medium, which I am going to do.

Funny, just saw this on FB somewhere and saved the post.  I agree it needs to be used conservatively but it should be a good piece of the arsenal going forward.

Ed's Law in this case is fulfilled by the streets in my town.      I exaggerate only slightly.

That looks really good. I'd picked up some to patch in on some of the less maintained roads for my layout. We'll see how it goes.
