I am installing an ESU LokSound 58923 decoder with a 8x15mm speaker into an Arnold/Hornby U28C. I worked on this diesel for a while, but stopped when I could not get any of my decoders to fit. Saw a couple of good videos that got me restarted. I designed a speaker case to fit under the Arnold light board. The 58923 has the free-wire plug, so it is easy to configure. The two videos:

I made the speaker case with extra volume to fit at the front of the frame after some machining. The link is:

The .stl file is open for use, but no commercial use, please.
The speaker is held upside down, taped to the light board to allow maximum output. The extra back volume of the case extension improves the sound a bit. The speaker is an OWS from DigiKey, about a buck each. I will post pictures.

I really like my Arnold/Hornby U25/28Cs. I am happy to see what you've done with yours!

Was that a C430 shell I saw sitting on your layout?

Hello Haasmarc No, not mine. The video is one that I found to help me with the Arnold U28C upgrade. I will post pictures of my conversion soon. The speaker case has extra volume, underslung below the Arnold PCB. The speaker case design is in TinkerCad-

The power is hardwired from the truck connector pins to the PCB. The decoder has only the necessary wires remaining. The lights for the number boards are always on, the front and rear headlights are controlled normally. I had to lengthen the speaker wires as visible on the top of the PCB. Crawls at "1" on my NCE PowerCab with a CV2=2 setting.
