I'm confused, is this a relatively new body style release or the old, repurposed Roundhouse car? The grills being knocked out on the AMRN car indicates they are no longer cast on, maybe even etched parts? ALso, the BN cars having a second style of grills indicates this.

This is a newer body style. I think this is the second run.

Yes, not the same old Roundhouse tooling.

Sorry, still a bit confused. Are the grills on the FGCX etched, or cast in place? And it would seem, given the original and modern versions, the roof may be a separate piece. Is that the case?

I have several of the FGCX cars, the grills are cast in, and the roof is removable.  Not sure if this picture would help:

Picture is also a reminder to proof-read Microscale decals. :-I

These are great cars, but I have far too many from the first two runs to buy more. When they came out, I pulled all my old MDC FGE cars and repainted them to the "Real Cold" scheme.

I'm in for probably a couple of the FGE cars.

But the Berwick cars are the real interest.   The UFIX coal trains are a signature piece for what I'm attempting in N.  The UFIX cars were a mix of ACF and Berwick, and having a combination of the two will be awesome.  They have different rib configurations, and also the side sills are slightly different so it's really evident in a unit train of otherwise similarly designed bathtub gons.

Sort of a bummer that they're only doing 7 numbers.   They did 15 and 24, respectively, of the recent Thrall coal gon runs, so not sure why they've gone conservative.  If they were "normal", I could just renumber, but I'm not sure what the "prime for grime" does to that process.

But I'm still extremely happy that Athearn chose to do these cars (never before done in N) and hopefully they'll do more number before, say, 2029.    :RUEffinKiddingMe:

Interesting that they're doing the WFEX 6000, as it was literally one-of-a-kind.  It was designed with interior conveyors and slope sheets for hauling bulk potatoes, and apparently wasn't worth repeating.

I'll have to order it and a couple FGE yellow cars.

It'll be here before you know it. Time goes faster and faster the older I get.
At least Athearn is being realistic.

UFIX gons for me. I wish they'd rerun the SD70s.

SD75s....
I have all released ATSF SD75Ms and I need more.
