They must have had a surplus of miscellaneous lengths of Power Poles and decided to install them all in that stretch.   :D

Maybe it’s a training course for linemen.

-    Backlit (Nose): The nose of the lead unit is too dark due to backlighting.
-    Composition (Balance): The subject is awkwardly positioned in the frame. RailPictures.Net prefers that images are composed in keeping with the 'Rule of Thirds' meaning that, in most circumstances, the focal point of the image should not be directly in the center of the frame, or too close to any of the edges.

Not that the picture they rejected is not a really good picture, but the one they accepted is definitely better.

In my opinion couple in open gondola nearly dead center is what really makes this picture special (and no, I don't know them).

Well done!

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

I agree.

I enjoy playing the RPics game. And that's exactly how I see it, a game. And I'll say this, it definitely DOES make me a better photographer and editor.

The second picture is a better railfan picture. The first one would be absolutely at home as a jigsaw puzzle, or possibly an oil painting. Try one of the painting filters in PS and see what you get.
