Mr. Surface 1000 Red Oxide vs Tamiya Fine Red Oxide Primer

I have never used either one but looking for the finest spray of the two.   I have some etched metal walkways and don't want to clog it with paint.  I would air brush but this is way to big for the booth, or I could wait for the best weather and do it outside.  Opinions ?

I haven’t used the Mr Surfacer oxide red but have used the gray on many occasions. It has become my go-to primer.
The Tamiya is an excellent product which I used for several years but I feel the Mr Hobby is better.

never used either one of those, but i have used krylon red oxide primer ...decanted into a gatorade bottle and straight applied with an airbrush, a little thin requiring multiple coats, covered well ..

Well I got my can of Mr. Hobby so I did a test and here is the result.  Guess my worries we not warrented.  Tamiya is out of stock in the whole country now so will not get a chance to test it. The grid below the glass is 1" so you can see this is about 1/4" wide walkway. A bit bright but I can deal with that later.

My LHS had Tamiya in stock last month. I haven't been in lately. Did I miss something?

Well covid wiped out all the "hobby shops" in Charleston so I have to go to online retailers/combo brick and mortar and my 5 or so sources shows all out of stock.  You may have a local that does not have high turnover in inventory so it might be there.  The local Hobby Lobby and Micheals do not carry specialized products like this. I am sure it is just another "Supply Chain Issue" but yeah I want to move forward now...... a little impatient here, got stuff to do.  Sorry for the rant.

 I use the Mr Surfacer primers for nearly everything, including the Red Oxide 1000.  The Black 1500 is especially satisfactory.

This thread demonstrates the value of forums like this.  I had no idea about either of those products.   I did a lot of spray painting of my new steel mill area to "rust it up" using basic spray cans from Home Depot.  They worked fine for my purposes, but finer spray is always appreciated.
