paint removal from brass locomotive ?

I have a brass gauge one GP-9 I need to strip bare and start with a new paint job.  Any ideas on how to remove the old paint. The paint itself is bad at all but i need to get the letters and numbers off to start with a new color and road.

If it is ALL brass (or other metal, except maybe aluminum), no plastic parts, any hardware store paint remover will work.  Just make very sure there is no plastic hidden under the paint.

Ok, nope, no plastic.   That won't affect soldered joints would it ?

you could also use a volatile liquid such as lacquer thinner ... pretty fast if no plastic in there , otherwise plastic will -probably- melt ..
