Didn't someone else make Flexi Flo hoppers in N before? And not too long ago?

Good to see; the Lafarge cars went to Fort St. John on BC Rail.  Have a photo of NAHX 1014 at Fort St. John in March 1997.

Does anyone know the date of sale to Lafarge for these cars?

Some advice — on the repaints and patchouts, most likely only the first road number is prototypical.  No two cars were alike on the repaints, so unless there is a photo to match the road number, it won't be exact.  The artwork for each of the ESM cars was based on photos of the prototype, of which I have dozens.

Perhaps a small run of 38" wheels might be in order after all.

Other points:

• The cars from the original NYC through the MDT scheme were painted the same standard shade of cement gray. The announcement flyer shows two shades but that might not be representative of the actual models.
• The split Flexi Flo and the straight Flexi Flo were used on both style cars and were not specific to a certain bodystyle. Both FF schemes were patched out by both PC and CR.
• The trucks on the fully-painted Conrail cars were cement gray.
• The Central Century font used for the PC letters on the FF patchout is not the standard font, but again, no patch-out was the same, so there could have been an oddball with non-standard NYC Century stencils. There were CR cars also patched out in the same fashion, albeit with standard Century font letters, as many cars survived deep into CR in their original NYC scheme.
• Note that there were only 24 of the “early” style, and Rapido has “duplicate” car numbers for the schemes on that bodystyle. If you’re planning on buying multiples of the early style in multiple schemes, make sure the last two digits in the reporting marks are not duplicated. Also note that the early style comprised only 10% of the fleet.
