Why is the Atlas S2 sound decoder CV29 a value of 214?

So I finally got a DCC system that can read back CVs from a DCC decoder.  When I used it on an Atlas S2 with sound, the value for CV29 reads 214.  Using a CV calculator, this is because bits 6 and 7 are turned on.  This seems out of the ordinary.  What would be the reason for this?

Atlas N scale S2 uses ESU LokSound decoders (I think it is a V4 decoder).  The CV29 is a NMRA defined CV where bit 6 and 7 are not used (and I believe should read 0 as default).  I have never tried to set those bits to 1s on any decoder. I can't really explain why those are set to 1s on your model.  ESU manual does not show any functionality assigned to those bits.  If the loco works as expected you could just leave CV29 as is (11010110 in binary), or try setting it to 22 and see if that "sticks".

22 is 28/128 speed steps, DC operation enabled, and custom speed table enabled.

It seems that bit 7 is defined, but not sure how setting it would affect a mobile (multifunction) decoder.  I suspect that 214 value is just a glitch.
