My heart might skip a beat - but which AS-16? I'm hoping it's this one!...
Since I'm not up on all the older GE stuff, what chassis would the U18B be designed to be built on?
I am not sure. The prototype RS units were about 2 1/2' too long between the bolsters, but I never took apart the actual Atlas models to know whether they were on par with that measurement or closer to being a feasible mechanism. The problem for me is fiur axle Baldwins weren't really a thing in the western US. PiperGuy was planning an AS616 model at one point but I don't know how it was going to come together, I just remember it being talked about - https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=32922.0. That being said, he had a AS16 shell in production, IIRC, so you two might have something to talk about, and he was planning a C636.
Or the other rebuilt versions (322-323) http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/nkp/nkp323.jpg
