Trainworx 52’ Gondolas - Union Pacific - yellow

I just received the 6 road numbers I preordered from Hogtrains back in April of 2018 (with an advertised delivery date of 4th quarter of 2018). They’re a little late, but I’m glad to have finally received them.

They’re not terribly accurate to the prototype as the one road number out of six for which I found a prototype photo shows the side panel ends are not configured accurately. There is an assembly issue... be careful when unwrapping as Trainworx decided to model these gondolas as rebadged (or just a crappy way of doing multiple road numbers) and used separately applied panels for the data & numbers. Some of these are loose and could be easily lost if not reglued before putting them in service.

Just a friendly warning ⚠️ to all who bought these.

Thanks for the information, I recently ordered a Union Pacific yellow one so I will look for the panels.

Probably an error at the factory, the MP ones did use seperate plates for at least the herald, maybe the road number too.

I got the MP/UP ones and they actually match the 5 road number pictures I saw including the stripe reflective placement for each individual car
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

Here’s the photo for UP 97040 which is one of the 6 road numbers of the yellow gondolas. You’ll notice the end panels are flat on the model but on the prototype gondola the end panels are corrugated with the wide flat panel where the road number & data are located. They don’t match... but I’m not really concerned about that.

I see what you mean, the MP/UP have the plates and the UP do not.
The one thing that annoy me was the shrink wrap they used to wrap the gons in the package and the metal wheels look like pizza cutters,
but those were replaces with more proto looking Tangent wheels.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

IF they actually get into production. I sufferred through the Dash 2 saga. I hate to say it but it's not gotten better. Hopefully IM gets things going and proves me wrong. I could use CR GP10's.

The Trainworx trucks on mine, from the last run, do have larger flanges than some models, but the still run fine on ME code 40 track.  And that has larger flanges than the old Railcraft track, so these flanges should work on any track available.

It also doesn't have a fishbelly to the sides, which the TW model has. It's a completely different car used as a stand-in since what is common is the overall size and the fact that it has corrugated panels.

Interesting these are marked as covered cars. (Mechanical designation GBSR and "remove this section..." lettering on the top edge.)

GBSR is correct since they were built with covers.   However, the "remove this section" should be on the cover, not the top chord.

E&C made a 52' corrugated gon in HO, but I don't know if they ever made one in N.

Thanks for posting the picture. I'm still not throwing the model out with the bathwater.
