And it's operational again!

Here's the fallen.  The heating block is actually in perfect shape, but all the melty goo that built up over time made the nozzle swap a difficult task, ultimately causing the heating element wire to break.  The heating element alone is 7 bucks, but again, too much melty goo meant I had to go the more expensive route.

I debated whether to spend another extra 15 bucks for a pre-assembled hot-end, but in the end, it took me all of 6 minutes to assemble and swap!  This is why I absolutely recommend Prusa!

Installation was successful and it's back to printing non-stop!  Now that the old hotend is free, I'll do a restoration and keep it on hand as a spare, since I can get the element and sensor alone for just a few bucks each!   Also notice, that blue silicon 'sock' that came with the new hotend!  That should help prevent all this melty goo from accumulating on the new block!

i have a Prusa i3 clone, main difference is threaded bolts instead of made up spacers on the lower axis, and i have gone to a non heated bed [my controller bed temp sense died], and i use glue sticks for adhesion ..
I don't have the usage that you do, but mine has been relatively trouble free, and i do use it for my layout [HO scale] ..
