Luck was with me on May 27, 1989 when I caught this CP eastbound at the Lower Spiral Tunnel crossing over itself - I even managed to catch the CP Rail lettering on 2 of the locos between trees!  Yoho, BC.    This brings to mind the question of why well known British Columbia loop modeler @GaryHinshaw decided to model an American prototype when there was a perfectly well suited loop (actually two) to model right in his own province!?

Nice picture. As for Gary and Tehachapi, it's an import job. Good for the economy and such. And he does loops, not bridges. Can you imagine him doing a ballasted deck bridge?

Here is the station at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture. One of these days I'll build a 1:24 scale model of it for the garden, this station is too beautiful not to model!

A bit of luck on Sunday the 21st; caught a southbound B&P train with 5 units just outside of DuBois. The wife and I were almost home after a 4-hour car ride, so I elected not to try and chase it. I love her to pieces, but I also know her limits...

LOL.  Fair question @coldriver !  Truth is, I'm a California native and I grew up in & around a landscape of dry grass and live oaks that was very similar to Tehachapi's.  That "primal landscape" has always tugged on me.  (The high & dry sage desert that you model has a similar effect.)  Another reason is that Tehachapi Loop is above ground whereas the Spiral Tunnels are - well - tunnels.

That said, beautiful shot Dean!  It reminds me how lucky I am to live in BC now, and how much I love it here.  And I do lay claim to some BC heritage: my mum was born in Rossland, BC, about 200 km south of the Spiral Tunnels.
