Can You Modify This ?
« on: November 28, 2020, 09:10:00 PM »
Admin., Hi.
It's a tad annoying when, after you finish typing a new thread or OP and hit 'post' (enter), instead of it and page it's on appearing next, it goes back to the home page of the category we're in..This then makes one have to chase down the title of what we just entered, and click that to get back to the composition either to proof read or to edit it...
Can you reprogram it to stay withing the page/go back to where we're introducing the OP to the forum, instead of what it's presently doing ?
I believe this is the only site I've ever seen this happen on....
Thanks, Mark

As I am typing my response there is a preview button to click.  If you pre view it and proofread it the need to edit it is greatly reduced.

That's odd.  When I create a new topic, and click on the "Post" button, it brings me to the post I just started (not to the listing of topics).  If you end up at the list of topics, that might be due to some setting in your profile.  Just to be clear, I'm participating in the forum using a Windows PC (not a smart phone or tablet).

As for proof reading, like Bryan mentioned, the Preview button is your friend (yet I often manage to still screw up, and have to edit the post later).

When I hit post -- it takes me to the last post in the thread

Hmmm...I'm like Mark.  After I post to a thread the system takes me out of the thread and brings me back one level up to the list of threads (or topics) in that forum, e.g. Administrative after I post this message.

I never see the message i post.  I've always find this odd as TRW is the only forum that does this but I just shrug it off.  Now if this is a setting in my profile I would love to find out what it is so I can see the message i just posted and stay in the thread.

I'm latest version of Win10 and Chrome.  But same on an Amazon HD Fire tablet.

NOTE.  If I go back into a thread to edit my post and hit Save (like now when I'm adding this Note), I remain in the thread after posting.  My newly edited post is shown.  It doesn't take me one level up like when I initially posted.

It’s a setting in your profile/look and layout. It’s called ‘return to forum after post’ or something like that.

Aha!  Found it!

Go to: Profile > Summary > Modify Profile

Look for and check the box:

Return to topics after posting by default.

EDIT: Bingo!  Worked perfectly!  After all these years...

Thanks Tom!
