Had an interesting Sunday as we knew there was some foreign power on a train from Fort Worth. But while listening to the radio is seemed that they were cutting power off south of Springs as Kelker.

Weird thing was, there were already two engines set out on the same track. I'm curious to what is going on.

Everything stayed but the first three locomotives.

1) Iowa Northern at their yard in Waterloo last January. Unfortunately this interesting road is generally a nocturnal visitor to Cedar Rapids on account of Crandic giving them a middle of the night window to interchange at their yard in town. I hear them arriving at the north end of UP's North Yard around 2330-0200hrs.

2) IANR corn slug.

3) The local out of Helena that works customers on the Montana City branch and as far east as Townsend, seen returning to the main from the cement plant at Montana City.

4) The local out of Helena has finished working the Lime plant at Townsend, MT., and, having run around it's outbound cars in town, is seen accelerating west over the Missouri River.

At this time of year with the heat and monsoons in the Northern Territory, Journey Beyond suspend the Adelaide to Darwin 'Ghan' tourist passenger service and re-brand the rolling stock for a weekly Adelaide to Brisbane rail cruise the 'Great Southern'. People whinge about the prices, but the 12 trips between now and mid-February are just about all booked out.
The first Great Southern of the season (26 cars) passes through the Adelaide Hills village of Balhannah, South Australia. The locomotives are GE-powered NR class operated by freight operator Pacific National who provide the 'hook and pull' for Journey Beyond services - 2 December 2022.
Summer is here!

Housatonic RR #3604 on the Canaan fuel pad with leased GMTX #2346 in Canaan 12-9-22. #2306 is out of service. I'm hoping for a resuscitation attempt some day. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
