OK, two things. Thing one: that's about the least intuitive procedure as I've seen in recent times. Thing two: it only blocks the topic from the "Unread Posts" view; the topic still appears everywhere else. That's about as useless (for me) as I could imagine, since I normally don't use the "Unread Posts" view because that's more difficult to navigate and make sense of than the plain old top-down view. Oh well, hope it helps other folks.

You're right. I thought it would be usable when viewing the parts of the forum I visit. I also read the forum by browsing the individual sections (not just the unread posts since last visit).  Oh well. . .

Well, at least the virus thread is locked. Hope it stays that way and falls off the list quickly.

Good point. Its usefulness fades with increasing intervals between "show unread posts" requests. It quickens things mostly for the screen-addicted who are on multiple times a day... Pete... :D (...oh... myself included). But, really, it's a chicken-or-egg situation. The more you ignore spot threads not in your wheelhouse, the fewer threads that show up in the big "unread" list if you're away for a bit.

FWIW.

I find it pretty useful... almost indispensable to me, really, since 'Unread Posts' is the primary way I check for new activity (parsing each forum individually is too time-consuming for me).  Now that it's fixed, I appreciate more than ever that those topics I don't want to read (e.g., coronavirus threads) do not keep re-appearing every time I refresh the Unread Posts view.

It doesn't matter to me that ignored threads still appear in the regular forum views; in fact I see that as a good thing, since sometimes I will ignore a topic because it is too busy, yet I might still want to look in on it at some future occasion.

QED, it would have been a waste of time to follow that.
