Ever wonder what the inside of an AAR-B truck looks like?

We were driving down 301 near Centreville, MD today when we noticed Maryland and Delaware 801 switching Tidewater Direct.  Of course we had to pull into the parking lot to get this picture  :D  I can't believe it still has the Conrail Express paint scheme.

And, it looks like somebody forgot to use SolveSet and spray Dulcoat on that box car's new marks and number.  I guess there really is "a prototype for everything."  :P

I'm really torn on that being badass or fugly. Maybe if the headlight was more streamlined into the hood instead of looking more tacked on,

Check it out. The latest Conrail Quarterly has a whole article all about the program and why that switcher exists.

Two recent weekend excursions yielded some prizes, at least for my world.

Surprised by the B&P turn arriving in Driftwood PA the same time we did. They also surprised an egret in the stream:

and a few miles north:

Met up with some 6-axle antiques in Port Allegheny:

Found this item at the museum in North East PA:

and this is in Wayland NY:

But it isn't always about trains.  Tall Ships Erie (the prior weekend) was fun too!

And one of my "happy places" - Keuka Lake; behind me is the Bath & Hammondsport RR depot.
