One more 3D truck / trailer project

I have finished my 2nd printed project. I see a couple of things to correct and I still need to add horns. If I could learn how to paint the wheels/tires neatly I would be very happy. Any hints ? ?

The only hint other than a light steady hand and thinned paint, so it flows nicely is...light to dark.
Paint the wheels first, no matter how sloppy and then correct everything with the black.

Get a fine-tip sharpie to touch up those wheels.

Silver sharpies. Not quite so chrome, but much easier to control.

Thanks to all for the tips on painting the wheel / tire sets. I have been practicing and can do much better.

OK, so the two trucks are nice looking but are the drivers afraid of getting them dirty ?  Here they are leaving the Ewing Oil & Refining Co. refinery after unloading cat-cracker catalyst.

A lot of truck stops have truck washes, so that shouldn't be a problem.  Might even be a modeling idea, as one would be the perfect place for shiny new truck models.

These are very excellent all the way around.

I'm looking to have a small fleet of these for Sand Transloading off railcars for Frac Sand in Western OK Farmrail operation.  Great work!!  Really love the scene detail as well.  Is most of your small stuff 3d printed in that scene?

Thanks for the kind comments. Actually, in that scene, the only 3D prints are the 2 bulk units.

Except for bodywork, I'd say reverse process.
As in painting soldier/ figurines, work dark to light.

Lay down the shadow areas, then build up the lighter tones.
I can't see any detail to comment on the wheels, but I'd be painting dead black, then dry brushing a charcoal and finally layers of whatever light 'road colors' you desire. Lighten the tire tread area even more.
After comment about the wash bays- the 'weathering' effects of water on stainless are usually obvious, so tanks such as these will have a 'patina' (dulling) effect tideline about mid curve (when all washing is directed from the ground anyway).
