Bryan and Curtis:  Thank you!  I've long wondered if I was the only one who actually built the things!

The SP&S cars were common in Pasco before the merger.  They came up the river, or down from Spokane, bound for the Boise-Cascade paper mill at Attalia (Wallula Jct).

That tanker I posted does have a frame, doesn't it?  Many of the D&RGW cars don't, although there were some that did, and I missed the frame on this one.  Oh well, I'd still like to have a few.  The narrow gauge cars with frames had wide frames, with the sides more-or-less over the journal boxes.  Not flatcar-wide, but not just a center sill either.  The R. Robb freight car book doesn't have any data on them, just pictures.  I wonder if they were originally frameless, and UTLX added the "box" frames later?

I've built only two of the 6 I originally purchased probably some 20 years ago or more.  I didn't have any problems with swaying at all.
My prototype focus just shifted from post BN Merger to pre-merger NP.

Bryan, these look great, and they're definitely the SP&S prototype and early GN car, not the SP, which RLW has painted up his model as. OOC, how long ago did you purchase your kits?

That being said, it would be nice to have both the SP&S and the SP versions, as minimal as the differences are. If a model was produced with separate bracing and ends, this would be easy to do.

I'd like to add another suggestion - GN-SP&S 30' cabeese - wood and plywood sides, please.

The ends are separate pieces, so you could scratchbuild your own, if you wish.  Unfortunately, the sides are one piece, so the bracing would be harder to change.  In this case, I specifically needed the SP&S/GN cars for my BN, so made a master for Marshall, rather than scratchbuild more than one myself.

The major pieces are a metal floor casting, two resin sides, and two resin ends.

Today, it might be easier to make a master by 3D printing, rather than from styrene and wire.  Anyone interested in designing it, and seeing if RLW, or someone else, will cast it?  I agree, the SP version should sell.

How about a BC Rail GMD SD40-2?
