I finished up the Canadian consist today with the final connections and assembly for the drum head and marker lights. I wish I could take batter pic with my phone. In real life the VIA sign is not bright like that.

Your phone is likely focusing on the drum head an over-exposing for some reason.  Two suggestions:

Try getting the phone to take its reading elsewhere in the image (not sure how to do that).

(If I was shooting with an SLR I would experiment with different focal points to get the right exposure.  I have this problem when trying to photograph things on the fascia and the layout itself comes out over-exposed - always a challenge when trying to incorporate two different light levels in the same image.)

Try taking the photo on an angle to the coach so the drum head will not be as bight.

Thanks for the suggestions. My phone does allow me to choose another focus point. I tried several. I think maybe I need a better light source. Where I am now I don’t have control over that. When the train is complete I’ll try taking a shot in my Micromark photo booth.

They were supplied by the friend I’m making these for. I’m not exactly sure where he got them.

I think the decals come from the Utah Belt Historical Society Facebook page.
