Newer Tomix trains like this have couplings that transmit track power through buss wiring, ...
Direct experience found this to be a "beware"-type problem under DCC. Last January we had a club member running his then-new Tomix Shinkansen on our club layout, using the Digitrax "00" DC accommodation. It derailed and got a little sideways, shorting through - IIRC - one wheelset. It wasn't enough to trip the 5A breaker, but enough to heat the interconnection to where it melted the truck and the coupler. Adding a decoder at the motor for true DCC operation wouldn't fix this, either.
If you can manage to keep it on the rails, all's good. If you can't, because of the long connection to track power distributed through the train, expect smoke.
