Basically a locally built SD40-2 down under, only ten with this particular carbody were built (back in 1977/78) so it was pretty cool to get five of them on one train 40 years later. Working a special empty hopper move (101 hoppers - big by our standards) to load with feed grain in South Australia to take back to drought affected areas of New South Wales - 18 June 2018

Those are neat. Must be LOUD in that cab with the horns right there though.

Horns on the nose is an Aussie thing. Look for pics of older carbody models and you'll see the same thing. Strange, but sorta cool in their own way.

No rear-facing trumpets, that's for sure. :D

It didn't seem to worry the driver (engineer) on this run, who is a personal friend - lot's of horn music along the way.

Some night time music - only FB I'm afraid https://www.facebook.com/daven.walters/videos/10155884049478075/

BAR did it too (on BL-2s) - along with the bell.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.
