SP Vandy tenders with "dog house"

There has been some discussion in a thread that I can not find so here is a new one for anyone who may want to model this setup.

This is an SP F-1  2-10-2 built in 1938 by ALCO and delivered to the T&NO in 1938, it was retired from T&NO in 1957. Cab # is 975. Not sure where I found this image but I find it of value as I am building an SP GS-1 with a brakeman's house. There is quite a bit of detail to draw from here. My Father was a "hoghead" back in these days and was called many times for #975 and I think one other 2-10-2 #982. I have a photo of one leaving El Paso and I am almost positive that the engineer is my Dad. Real memories, for sure. After all, how many 16 year old punks have moved a 100 car PFE reefer train with 6 Black Widow F-7's on the point. Wow, what did that have to do with my post. Oh well. It happened!

As always, have fun !

Is the doghouse unique to SP Atlantic Lines power?  I can not recall ever seeing a photograph of SP freight power in the SF Bay Area that had one.   The DeMoro book does not show any.

Honestly, I can't answer your question with any certainty but the ones I am interested in and look for were on SP's subsidiary T&NO steamers.

Hers is one on a T&NO 4-8-4, #701 ...............

Always have fun,

Some T&NO tenders had doghouses, but NO SP tenders ever had them.
