So a small update to this thread.

I had been getting ready this RR season for this to happen.



But then this happened.



I have been looking for a view of the depot for 10 years that showed the NE end and decided to try and use it as motivation which worked well because this happened.



Which is the middle depot area module of this.




And this soon followed.



There's actually all the brick drawn on the drawing, but didn't show saving it to the .png) file. The patch at the lower right is a photo of a brick wall.  I think I'm going to look at using photo textures at first.

I'm not happy with the bench work I made with my sub-par tools but I'm going to try and keep it going the best I can.

This is awesome news...  I always saw so much potential with those modules.

Are plans back on to build the whole set?

That would be the plan. 

I'm pretty sure this attempt boils down to getting whatever bench work I can done before snow fall and freezing temps hit the front range.

So I've been doing some work on the final roster regarding this proposed layout so I though I'd blow the dust off this thread.

Waterloo is on the 4th district of the southern division which goes from Oelwein to Marshalltown.  As I've mentioned in the past, I transcribed 10,000 car movements to and from this division.  The southern division had four daily trains, two each way.  The plan is to build four 50 car trains which would include 4-8 interchange cars at Waterloo.

The trailers are all for Raths meat packing.  And the tractors are from John Deere.  Some of the 'Billed to' cars can also be picked up as empties.

I'm slowly getting through the four trains trying to utilize as much of the cars I already have as possible.

As for the layout, I'm going to take another run at making benchwork in the next couple weeks.

Almost all your pictures from earlier in this thread are missing. Also, could you show a large drawing of the junction area? Something big enough to see all the details. It would be half of each module at that joint.

Here's the interchange with the IC.



Right now the divide between modules is down the center of the street just next to the IC tracks.  These IC track were it's downtown passenger line to the depot. 

I'll take a look at the missing pictures and see what I can do.

I didn't realize there were 2 Dimonds on the north side of the bridge (I knew there was 1)..  If the IC had built elevated through downtown similar to the Santa Fe through OKC, that would have solved a LOT of flooding problems down the road.
