Small switching layout

Hello, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Tim, and I live in eastern VA. As a kid I grew up with the C&O/ Chessie System right in my backyard, literally 30' from the fence. So naturally I liked trains and had a 4x8 layout when I was younger. About two years ago I got inspired to get back into model railroading. A Lot has changed in the realm of model railroading since I was younger. So I've read a lot and tried to become informed about all the latest trends. It has certainly become a lot more expensive now to collect rolling stock and build a  layout that's for sure.
Over the last 20 months I've been working on a smallish (29"x 12' 4") HO switching layout. Nothing fancy, just found a track plan on the web and modified it a bit to suite my needs. Initially it was straight DC with block wiring, but somewhere along the path I switched over to DCC. I like having the independent control and sound. Still need to paint and weather a couple structures and finish ballasting some spots.  At first it was a Norfolk Southern based theme, But I've collected several locos from many roads. I just swap them around depending on how I'm feeling that day. Right now I'm into the MRL/ BNSF. Anyway let me see if I can post some pics

Hi Tim,
Welcome! You appear to have a well executed plan - did you do the track layout yourself or borrow from someone else? What's your layout's overall size and what sort of work are you doing on it now? And were in eastern VA?

Welcome Tim. You have yourself a fine looking layout there. Even if it is 'H'orribly 'O'versized scale.  :D Good modelin' is still good modelin'.

Welcome aboard Tim. You have a very nice switching layout. When it comes to switching prototypes, I do the same thing. The P&WV is my favorite prototype, but I also like to switch things up from time to time. Some of my other favorite roads are the P&LE, L&HR, WM, Southern, Conrail and Union Railroad. Not only do I like switching up prototypes, but I also like switching eras. Like they say, a layout is never complete, I'm always finding places to add a few more people or some type of small building and it seems there are never enough signs :D
