What happens to rails with cement ties across a bridge?  Do they use wood ties spaced close together with guard rails?

From what I've seen, which is limited to CN in Ontario and Manitoba (Concrete ties are anything but popular here)
it depends on the style of bridge. An open deck bridge will have traditional wood bridge ties returning to concrete after, while a
ballasted deck will have no bridge ties with the normal concrete ties straight across uninterrupted...
The Railwire is not your personal army.

^ This sounds correct to me.  Here is at least one example of a ballasted deck bridge with concrete ties and guard rails.

Here http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/51/Dilitationsskarv.JPG is a bridge with no ties at all. The rails are fixed directly to the bridge concrete structure itself. It is a little hard to see since that is in the farther part of the picture. Closest in view, and what the picture really tries to show, is the expansion joint.
