it really doesn't matter what U.P. was going to number the Centipedes,
they were Cancelled before Baldwin was finished building them.
seems that U.P. never had the Title to them.
Baldwin tried to sell them to the other Centipede owners,no luck with that.
Trona was interested until they ran on Trona, then sanity prevailed and they
ordered still odd DTS-6-6-2000 Center Cab Transfer units.
later Trona did order a normal AS-616 during 1953,delivered 3/54.
then the Demoes were stored and about 1954 were used to help rebuild
some of the NdeM units sent back to Baldwin.
the rebuilt units got the latest Baldwin engines rated at 1600 HP for traction,
3200 HP per unit.
Seaboard 4500 was an Oddball built on the frame of the 6000 HP Demo Unit
that was scrapped above the running gear, and while it set the Pattern for the
Production Centipedes it had a few Unique features not carried over to Production
units.the unit was Baldwin #-6000 [1].
before being rebuild fodder for the NdeM units Santa Fe was considering using
6000-6001 as the base for a Baldwin/Westinghouse Gas Turbine that was never built.
#-6000 was Baldwin number 6000[2].
