Thanks to all the help. I like the Ashland design idea .I use Unitrack. A bunch of Unitrack. 100 plus turnouts and on and on and on.

I'm fairly certain that I don't like how this helix terminates at the top.  If you look carefully at the top right in the photo above, you'll see that you would spend a few minutes running a train up the helix, only to have it dumped on the benchwork or floor below.   That could get expensive.  There's quicker ways to destroy your fleet, if you prefer… like with a blender.

Mine does and nothing has hit the floor

In fact the only time I had stuff hit the floor was when I ran an engine off the end of my unfinished benchwork

He's referring to the lone piece of flex hanging over the edge at the top of the helix.

I like Dave, He's got a sense of humor.
That pic was taken during construction of the staging yard, so a stray piece of flex track snuck into the picture. 
It was that 50+ car train of "live" loaded beet racks rolling down from the top of the helix (after an unexpected uncoupling from the lead locos) that really got my mind seeing blades on a blender....   
...coasted into staging without incident.
I think Otto closed the angle cock before he pulled the pin at top of the grade....
