I said other. I wouldn't mind some of these CC&F oldies that have been 'modernized':

I'll buy 3 in the all green scheme, 3 in grn/ylw/black, 2 in CN noodle, and one or two in VIA...
Maybe more if you did the square, paired, or rounded window variations!
These cars had long lives in Canada! 1937-1980s!

And that cool CNR 73'6 baggage RPO photo is of a BGR models kit in HO.
Pudd, If Rapido wants more information about these cars, I'll supply the research!
And I'll buy 3 or 4 of those too!!

I didn't see K4 on the list so I voted for the solarium.

No, I said "Ed's Law."

Greetings,

First WCFN/Jason, what number would that Zephyr-Rocket be?  Possibly 752 or 753? Just curious.

Second, I have two I would like to see.  If the release would be an RPO I would like to see a well molded heavyweight version of the old ConCor lightweight RPO, 3 windows per side version.  The ConCor had 4 wheeled trucks.  I'd like to see a six wheel per truck version.  The rounded roof would be ok but the classic "stepped" heavyweight roof would be what I'd like.

If the heavyweight observation was the choice I would like to see a Pullman parlor drawing room type.  Pullman 3957.  They were / are,  Used by the Pennsylvania, New York Central, Wabash,  Clinchfield (White Oak), and Public Belt of New Orleans.  All 5 of the Wabash's still exist.  One (City of Decatur) is in Monticello Illinois, 3 are in New Orleans now as far as I know (City of New Orleans, Louisiana, and City of Peru), and one is in Virginia (City of Danville).  Pennsy's Queen Mary was scrapped in 2013.  I have read that NYC 30 (Hudson River) is now CSX New York.  I don't know about the fate of NYC Mohawk River.  Now some of these had multiple names and served on more than one road.  I would recommend Mr Laboda's site for some clarification of this as I'm a wee bit tired and may not have been as clear as I'd like.

Thank you very much for asking,
Bob Lipka

Yes.

Part of the ZR being a joint train with the CB&Q, the RPO was changed out at Burlington where the train changed track ownership.  I town I model is on the RI portion of the route.

The CB&Q RPO would be much easier.   :|

Yeah that's it.  Now impress the hell out of me and find a second picture.  :)

The rest of the ZR I have some roof to fudge, but there's just no way around this car.

Jason,

I can't really tell heavyweight RPO's 752 & 753 apart that well but I know of 2 more pictures.  One color behind 621 Christine the DL-109 in Peoria in the 60's and a black and white behind E7A 636 (in solid maroon) probably in Minnesota.  I also have partially dimensioned drawings of each.  I have an old ConCor RPO, 5 windows per side, I am going to try to turn into one of these eventually.  It is going to involve new trucks, sanding, filling, and plastic stock.  I don't know how close the length will be.  I have not begun to research this yet as I'm trying to convert a Model Power heavyweight observation into City of Wabash or City of Lafayette.  I have had to modify some of my modifications as I find out more details but I am getting closer to having my Cannon Ball done with a proper observation car.  I figure as soon as I finish a nice one will come out.

As to the ZR, I didn't realize the RPO got swapped out.  I knew the diner was dropped off.  Was one set owned by each line or were the cars mixed?  The ancient Atlas/Rivarossi coaches are the Rock Island cars Mistletoe, Waterloo, Goldenrod, and Hawthorne.  They are appropriate for this train.   I believe the older Kato RPO was a CB&Q exact prototype for the ZR.

I still vote for a heavyweight 6 window RPO or Observation.

Happy trains to you,
Bob

There were 2 of these, I believe, I'd buy both...

And as the picture shows, they're even good for freight trains.
I’m not here to argue

Does RBB&B own the rights to the original design?

Their graphics... Yes.  The hospital car design... No.

You'll have to excuse me as my research goes back two kids ago, so I'd have get to my notes, but yes the RPOs were kept on home rails.  As for modeling the ZR, I have an article I never published to my website which I had my desired consist.

Quote
Based on everything I’ve seen and read (plus some personal preferences), here’s the consist I’m going to try for:

RI E7 635

CBQ ‘Havelock’ Baggage 1027 – Green

CBQ Heavyweight Baggage 1045 – Green

RI RPO 753 – Rebuilt Parlor Car

RI Coach “Chisholm Trail” – 76 Seat Coach Rebuilt from Articulated Set

RI Coach “Moline” – 56 Seat Coach

Of course you can easily add more baggage and even express cars if you want some variety.  There were  CB&Q coaches as well.

If the diagram is right 752 had letterboards at different depths, deep over the mail apartment and shallow over the baggage room.  Thanks for sharing the info on the RZ!!!

Jason and Mr Laboda,

Rather than continue on someone else's thread I believe it might be a good idea if I started a separate thread for the Zephyr Rocket.
