Finally got around to putting foam on my layout base.  6'x6' trackplan sorta based on Malcome Furlow's Carbondale Central...with modifications.  General theme is SP and PFE with a tank farm thrown in for good measure.  I did the basic layout using Anyrail and then constructed the base.  Since translating what you did on paper vs what you ended up cutting seem to never merge, I took a shot of the base and using Corel Draw, laid out a track plan.  This is for an article I am working on and part of the effort was to use materials you could fit in the back of a medium sized car...2x4 ply, 2x2 pink foam panels and 6' wood stringers that just make it between the two front seats.  Granted, if you have a pick up then it is much cheaper to buy larger stock...but that's not the exercise here.  Still, for a little less than $70.00 I'm ready to start landscaping and track work.

in my civvies here.  I only represent my grandmothers home made Mac and Cheese on Railwire.

What era are you planning on modeling? Just kind of hoping that the PFE facility might mean that some more PFE ice reefers might be in the pipeline :)

Yes, more on the way.  I'm kinda stuck 1960 in most of my modeling, but with this layout I will have some lattitude depending on what I am interested in at the moment.  I have some newly aquired late steam that I am marking in SP that I'd like to get some run time on.

I really like the track plan for a compact layout, what is the radius on the curves?

Waiting on brass sheets to begin the processes again so no new modeling.

However, there is a new item of interest added to the store.

I hope you are referring to the GRa. Are you?

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Inside we got to see the Cape Race !

In rough but salvagable shape  "Cape Race" is one of the Solarium Sleeper Observation cars that ran on the Dominion for years and is a car I have modeled twice....

Wow! I love the Cape Race. I wish I could have one of those solarium sleepers. What a great name for a car, too. You should make a master mold of one of your models and make some castings of it, or speak to your fellow creative geniuses at Rapido and it could become a future release based off of your skills and talents.

It sounded like a good idea at the time... too bad the caboose wasn't in on the plan.

I've done two models, one scratchbuilt about ten years ago and this one, the Geoff Gooderham resin kit. You can get one from Central Hobbies in vamcouver.
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!
