Tortoise and Hare (or Wabbit?)

So I have a reversing loop going on the first level of my layout but I designed originally back in 2000 in the hopes some one would mass market a system to auto throw and auto reverse turnouts which seems to have come to pass.  But I was away from the hobby for some time, really not coming back actively until 8 months ago, so I kind of feel "out of it" a bit electronically speaking.  I own the Digitrax Chief and system but really in the process of re-learning it.

So can some one explain the difference between the Hare and the Wabbit; I'm assuming both will accomplish my above turnout need.

Pretty much they both do the same thing. Hare is just on board for one Tortosie motor and the Wabbit handles 2 via one board with cables. There are also some other little details between the two.

Ian can you say why you went the direction you did, I'm assuming you are after the same thing, auto throw of turnout and auto reversing.

Actually it was cost.

I have no need for auto throw or reverse so it wasn't a focus point for me. Sorry

I have used a tortoise machine or a snap coil machine on a turnout that is at the end of a auto reversing loop. The key is the electronics. I used PSX-AR from Tony's train exchange. (I use dcc).

The PSX-AR will mange the auto reverse as well as throw the turnout on the reverse loop.

As I used a snap coil machine, I was able to place gaps at the frog end of the turnout. The PSX-AR detects so fast, that it changes the polarity and throws the turnout before the lead loco gets from the joiner on the turnout to the frog!
