Featherweight Module dust cover

Even though we have central heat and air, I was wanting a dust cover for the layout. Found that the local dollar general store has foamboard type poster board for $1 a piece! This stuff is generic, and not slick finished like the Elmer's line of foamboard. The coarse surface makes for a most excellent bonding surface. Used that and 1/2" extruded foam insulation.

Wow! Very nicely done. That may be a solution I can use, as well.

OMG ... the perfect (socially acceptable) way to keep the CAT off the layout.
There are other ways that are more, shall we say, permanent ? But we won't go there on a family friendly forum, shall we ?

Cool! You may want to consider adding some rigid insulation ribs inside under the horizontal surfaces in case someone accidentaly sets a heavier object on top and to prevent the foamcore from sagging.

Will be adding some "ribs" to the outside of the top of the layout (preserving the height clearance inside) to provide shock absorbance when the cat jumps on it.
