Yes, absolutely. You have to bear in mind that
none of the photos live on therailwire.net. They come from other servers and other domains, and are therefore subject to the whims (and the bandwidth) of the servers they're stored on.
One thing I have found, however, is that all DNS (domain name services) are not equal, nor treat all sites equally. If your DNS is slow, then photos and other external links are going to be slow, too. To test this idea gets a little geeky - you have to know another DNS to use other than the one handed to you by your ISP, then get into your network settings and change DNS settings in TCP/IP from automatic to "Use the following...".
