Not to add to your bad news on that superb tower , but though mathematically spaced equal lettering , the space between the P and a would look better if closed up a bit IMO .

Looking at my drawings, I used the set up art instead of the finished art...both are on the same page...just grabbed the wrong one.  Says a lot for taking you time!  )  Funny, had 6 people look at it here and now one picked up on the spelling!

Couldn't resist one of the Atlas trainman DD boxes in late steam era scheme (roughly 1957 to 1963 scheme):

Out of the box, rides a bit high:



This class was originally looked something like this:

But were heavily rebuilt in the late 1950s to look like this:

At under $10, this car is a reasonable stand in for the N&W car, and the lettering is fantastic (except for the goofup on the lack of a "NEW" date of 1957 or later).

As a bonus, the N&W In Color book I have has a photo of #49722 in this scheme taken in 1965. 

My budget plan for this car is to body mount the accumates, lower the car, and replace the clunky running board with a plano replacement.

Next I removed the "frame" and filed the bolsters down level with the "sill":



At the same time I removed the couplers from the trucks. I reassembled the car with the trucks to see how much lower the car was (stock car on the left):



That's it for tonight. I may decide that it is lowered enough to please me. But let me know your thoughts!

Looks a lot better.  Now that the car is lowered the coupler can't be mounted to the floor.  You have two options.

If you use the AccuMates, you can mount them either in and ATL or MTL coupler box, but discard the lid and screw the box directly to the floor.

For MTL, #2004 won't work because the coupler box will hit the outer axle.  You will have to cut a notch in the floor for the #1015 coupler box and laminate some styrene on top of the floor to screw the coupler box to.  You may have to cut some clearance in the bottom of the ends.

I used the first option to lower my Atlas DD Boxcar, and the second option to lower my FVM MILW ribbed boxcar which is of similar design and ride height.

Posting late due to laziness/exhaustion, but better then not.

First up, some shots of the new BRS Paintshop, sponsored by the ReStore Choptank:





While the Pink Foam baffles the sound rather well - and concentrates it low in the basement, its still a noisey SOB, and the slit at the top has to remain to allow for some cooling.  I have the odds and ends needed to build upper drawers, and I hope they will help with noise reduction as well.

But with some noise reduction in place, painting commenced on a number of fronts with priming/sealing a number of models:









Since White Tower never made it to the Bayou State in real life, mine is about to be reborn as a Crawfish/shrimp/crab boiler, under the theory that the building was for sale cheap in the 1980's and came south on a flatbed truck.  The MOW truck body is one of Lou Judice's Roundmountain Models Shapewas products, and will be in KCS paint shortly.  Unfortunately, painting has temporary halted on these projects because my bottle of Reefer White is now a semi-solid, so a new supply is in route.
