Latest acquisition

This was waiting for me when I arrived home from my business trip last night:



I had been searching for a Santa Fe Tk-K or Tk-M tank from Pecos River for over a decade, and I actually got this brand new one at a very reasonable price.  They've recently been popping up on eBay for the first time in years, but they're going for too much there.  I would have preferred the AB brake version, but the KC brake system won't be noticeable when the car is moving in a consist.

Just looked on Ebay and the AB brake version is already up to $125.99.

Just looked on Ebay and the AB brake version is already up to $125.99.

That's the SP version.  But yeah, someone auctioned off one of the PCB tanks a couple of months ago and hit the jackpot, and that's brought a bunch of them out of the closets.  Also a few weeks ago, John at Pecos River unearthed a couple of tanks and put them on auction as well.  But I found the above unbelievably at retail, 15 years (at least) after it was released for far less.  I wanted one of the riveted tanks because they have more character than the welded versions; I can legitimately still have them in revenue service in 1956; and every once in a while one of them strayed into New England.
