Bridgeview Inn - Susquehanna River

The record flood on the Susquehanna has claimed the Bridgeview Inn at Rockville Bridge near Harrisburg.  I got a message from Keith Latimer - he got out okay but the second floor residence is flooded and the river is still rising.  For now, he is closed indefinitely.

For railfans and other guests, this place was heaven.

Condolences to Keith.

Oh, wow...  Glad I got to visit back in May.  Very sad.

As for the comparisons to Agnes, they're quite apropos...  While NS is not PC and will overcome, I am wondering about all the shortlines and regionals that follow PA's creeks and rivers.  I hope they all survive.

As far as the Maryland and Delaware RR goes, only our Massey to Centreville line is down right now. Right after Irene, a 2nd washout occurred south of Millington. There was a smaller one north of Millington which put the brakes on that line in mid August. What sucks is this line is owned by the state of Maryland, so now comes the process of bids. Of course, the timing couldn't be better. We are staring at our grain season in a matter of weeks! Looks like the truckers are going to get the brunt of the work this year moving the soybeans out.
