For National take a train to work day, Walthers posted an album on facebook of what their employee's brought in.

Guess what, the majority of equipment seems to be N scale. I think it is their rounf about way of saying, we know what N scale is... LOL.

I like the antlers on Bob's shay.  There are some really nice models on display - very little of it is Walthers though...

As of now, the only Walthers rolling stock I own is a PRR and Undec Pullman 10-6.

I do own some of the locos.

I own  a couple of their coaches. Pretty nice. Will probably get a sleeper and a baggage car. More if the budget allows.

They could never produce another piece of rolling stock or a locomotive again, as long as they would release all of those HO structures in N..

Then say something. I did. Perhaps not in the most diplomatic manner (I do try), but I think they'll get my drift.

Been doing that one or two times a month for about 10 years now, first to get the "retired" kits back that "had no interest" I then told them I dont know where they got that idea, they sell for big money at train shows and the bay..then I shifted to the HO kits to be produced in N, oh yeah, and re release the GP60 and C424/425 too..suprised they still send me flyers in the mail

Speaking of retired kits...

The recent re-release of the Brachs's Candy and a few others was sold out and gone in just a few months. I hope that helps convince them to bring back others.

I wish they would stick to structures!  The only rolling stock of theirs on my layout is two NP baggage cars.  As soon as Rapido comes out with their baggage cars the Walthers will go to Ebay.  I may have a few old frieght cars in a box somewhere or my 6 year old may have them.  Not much interest in Walthers rolling stock here!

While I have several Walthers HO cars I don't own any of their  N Scale cars because they don't produce the cars I need.

I would love to see more  N structures such as the ethanol plant.

The PS 4427 wasn't that bad of a model and I would think you might need some of those, CBQ Fan, since you model a road that rostered them. The 50' exterior post boxcar wasn't too bad once you got through the layers of paint and same for the 50" double door outside braced wood auto boxcar, which matched a GN/NP prototype.

BTW - Walthers came back with a response to my post that divulges who the inside N scale man is -

Thanks for your comments Bryan.  Please know that we’re working to address the shortcomings in our N scale offerings, whether building kits or locomotives.  And as far as having an N scale advocate at Walthers, yes, we have many N scale enthusiasts throughout the company, but with my joining the team last June I brought a lifetime of N-thusiasm with me!  The first layout that was “all mine” was built in my teens and used Atlas N scale track, Rivarossi locos and a wide assortment of freight cars and converted Euro buildings.  One of my last layouts (late 90’s) was also in N: An urban switching layout using Life-Like SW’s and lot’s of Cornerstone buildings!  Several moves have left me layout-less at the moment (a purely temporary status!) but I understand the needs of the N scale community, since I’m a member of that terrific group myself (as well as the other extreme: G scale!).

We hear what you’re saying.  Stay tuned as we work to change things for the better.

Micheal's a good guy, he was even when he worked at Athearn... he'll improve Walthers N-scale line-up, just give it time.
