Traincat's PRR signals and making them functional...

I ordered Traincat's... http://www.traincat2.com/

PRR CPL 4-Pack

Each set will construct four(4) Pennsy standard 7 light CPL mast signal with optional 3 light interlocker which can be mounted left to right or right to left. The kit comes complete with single or dual platform stairs.

Bob suggested using these: SMT LED 0603 to provide light.

OK, what about the automation aspect?

Dave Vollmer used Signal Animator from these folks... http://www.logicrailtech.com/ with the signals acquired from NJ International.

Has anyone powered Traincat's signals?  And do you have any info you'd like to share?

Thanks!

Mike W.

These guys are Alkem Scale Models, not TrainCat, but they are lit with Alkem's LED boards, which were available separately.

Last I knew, the run was sold out, and I don't know if they're available right now. I'm really hoping that Bernie will do another run, 'cause shortly I'm going to have need of around 50 or so heads.

PRR and B&O Modules, that would be Jim Hinds and myself.

I will be meeting with Jim while at Trainfest to finalize the particulars. I am really excited about these as we are trying to do them differently than has been done previously. The idea is not just novel, it is sound. But, since it has never been done before, there may be a few trials. There is a lot I want to tell, but I am going to hold it until the engineering is finished and all of the automated assembly is contracted.

How about some Amtrak(NEC) and N&W style CPLs? ;)

Or even the platform below (B&O).

I just realized that there's a second aspect to signals that I forgot to mention in my last post.  My signals are connected to Digitrax SE8C decoders, and I use Digitrax BDL168's to provide current-sensing block occupancy detection.  I have my layout connected up to a laptop, which is running JMRI, and provides the logic to drive the signals.  Here's my control panel:

In this image, there's a train on the loop around the roundhouse, which is the mainline segment in the middle.  You can see that the various signal aspects have changed to protect that train.
