Ha, yes...the "solution to a problem with a solution" bit.   ;)

So I've been pondering the HCD route.  Which is probably dumb since I have my benchwork done for my current layout but I was thinking of "switching gears" a little bit so the HCD came into play.  But like the Bob-Philip-Jason exchange, I've started to turn the simplicity of door into a complexity.

So yes, my question is of the turnout powering nature.  So I guess that cutting multiple Tortoise size square holes would unreasonably alter the integrity of the hollow-core door?  My thought was cut the holes precisely enough to mount the tortoises from the top so they wouldn't stick out of the bottom  of the door. (and of course 1" or 2" foam on top.)

I want to use Atlas C55, and would prefer good-looking power-routed ground throws but they don't exist.  (sorry, micro-SPST's are about the only viable option and probably the route I'd go if not Tortoises, but well, still don't qualify in the looks dept)   I am also considering Unitrack and would probably do that instead of C55 and ground throws at this point. (so, keep the construction simple, focus on structures and rolling stock, then C55 later on)

Dunno, starting to talk myself into sticking with my existing layout, but I'm enjoying the thought process...I haven't done any major track planning in a few years!!!
