I thought NS got the SD80s ??? And is CSX using them for local service?
Vincent

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

How can squeezing a 6 axle diesel into a lumber yard pain you!  Haven't we all been doing that for years on our layouts?  Now there's a protoype!

CSX was using them for quite awhile on the Pope's Creek branch.  They are now gone, replaced with various SD-70's.

Back in 94 when I was working for 84, we had two SD-40-2's deliver a boxcar load of studs to the store on Cove Road in Dundalk.  The siding hadn't seen a train in years, possibly decades.  Ties were squishing, rails were groaning....  It was the highlight of my lumber yard career.

Good stuff! These guys make it down to Seaford, Dover, and Harrington every so often. Last week, the Seaford local had a high hood GP38.
