Caught this the other day with my friend
Sorry for the poor quality of the last pic, they were going at a good rate of speed and I had little time to actually snap a photo let alone a good one.

if you can't conduct yourself, conduct freight

Really nice shots Mike! Your first one reminds me of the punch line to the question "You might be a railfan if.......you go to Gillette, Wyoming (in July) on vacation".

Here is a CP train passing over Kinnickinnic Avenue in Milwaukee on its way to Jones Island. This is the former Milwaukee Road line that used to serve as the connection to the GTW and C&O car ferries across Lake Michigan. Medusa Cement of Walthers fame is in the background.

Closer to home for me, an aerial shot of the Alaska Railroad shops in Anchorage that I took from a helicopter after a day of field work. There is a nice variety of ARR and private (Gray Line, Princess Cruise Lines) passenger cars in the yard by the car shop.

Best wishes, Dave

If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Norfolk Southern ran an inspection train from Albany down the D&H through Binghamton NY earlier today. Photo was taken at Conklin NY.

St Denis, MD last Sunday.  Got there just a a 4 unit set of helpers was making a reverse move to push a coal train thru the tunnel in Baltimore. Can't see it in the photo but that middle Sd-40-2 had New York Central stenciled on the air tank:

CW60C 651.  This is the only one painted up in YN3 on CSX:

Last but not least a lone SD-40-2 went West on the Old Main Line with about 40 empty autoracks:

Thanks Dave! Yeah, not exactly one of the top vacation spots, but it ranks up there near the top of my favorite list. She absolutely, totally, fully, completely, without doubt thought it was the worst vacation ever... yet we got so much shopping done  ???

Well, at least you got her to go with you...that means something. I once tried to convince my wife that we should take the family out to Dutch Harbor, Alaska for a short vacation. I do field work out in the Aleutians and thought that they might really enjoy experiencing the raw power of the weather and the spectacular scenery. We have tons of frequent flier miles so the cost was modest. I knew immediately from the look on her face that we were headed to Hawaii instead.

Best wishes, Dave

Dave, it was my reward for four years of shopping, shopping, shopping with a bit of shopping thrown in for good measure. After all that, with any time remaining I was graciously allowed to drive to the next city, eat, and then do some railfanning before we got in a little shopping before the real shopping began.
