Ok,Who did I beat out on this deal.Got all 3 for $15.One powered,One dummy, and well....you know the other....only problem was shipping and the $2 seller added fees bumped it up to just under 25 bucks...but oh well. Not a bad price to pay for a running SW1500.I like these old units even if the roof is totally incorrect.

You should be able to do a cab switch with something more appropriate though, no?

some paint, and voila.

A good price, but it's not an SW1500.

Yeah, it's kind of a Frankenstein. The cab is based on proposed drawings that didn't make it into production. IIRC the hood is more like a SW1200.

The other story is that the cab is based off an IC unit like this one:

As for the hood, about the only thing that starts to resemble something other than an SW1200 is the headlight IIRC.

The IC units had Paducah built cabs right? (home built)

Home-built cabs is the story on the IC units. The "reason" seems vague at best, contradictory usually. I have read a half-dozen "smokin' hot gospel" stories on the cabs, and none seem to really agree. There was a nice resin cast "curved roof" cab made at one time, but I haven't a clue if it's available now or from where. (A major problem, it seems to me, in N-scale. Detail parts and resin parts come and go. If you're into building model armour kits, it seems within days of the kit's release, $50 worth of photo-etch parts and resin detail parts become available, sometimes from more than one source. This is also true of military aircraft and the new plastic warship models. :()

I have a Life Like switcher cab in the stockpile if you want it.  It might be missing a few details (headlight comes to mind) but it's yours for the asking...

And if you are swapping cabs with Lee, I'll take the old one for another Paducah-built I'm working on for the ICG.  PM me for details. :D
