Intermountain STSF Stock Cr SK-T Review

Received 2 of these cars today.  I bought the mid version as these come in early, mid and late versions.  Seems like I ordered them years ago.  First off, the paint is decent and all lettering is easy to read.  Latter, grabs, etc are not seperate but are delicate looking.  The doors do not open on these cars.

On the down side, under certain viewing conditions, the silver weight can be seen inside the cars.  Maybe some paint will fix it.  The other thing which doesn't concern the car is after I removed it from the jewell case, the case top will not fix back properly (loose).

I'm thinking of buying several more in the early and mid versions.

As an aside , I have some green MTL stock cars . I seem to faintly remember a buzz about the green and that ATSF didn't use green on them . Does anybody know if that is true ? And if so why would MTL do them in green ?

Conveniently, the late double decker cars fit into my CGW roster.  Who knew?

Fingers crossed for the 53'6" flat car!!!  I'm tired of reworking DI/GHQ flats, and they're too heavy to put a load on.

IIRC the green on MTL's SF stock cars came as the result of a single bad color photo that was published somewhere. I think this "myth" was disproved about ten years ago. I remember that I had one of those cars, and I sold it as soon as I found out about the error.

It's sorta like Athearn's pea green HO Pennsy F7's. Some PRR publicity photos show "Brunswick Green" as very light. Of course, there is no record of 5 stripe PRR F7's, but that didn't stop Athearn from producing them for close to 40 years, I'd guess.

Seeing as we have all waited till the cows came home (pun intended...ok, it's a bad pun) for these I saw no need to rush them out the door. Kidding. Mine arrived late yesterday. Got them all sorted out this afternoon and will be on the way tomorrow. You'll be making cow pies for the weekend.

18 months we waited for these. Man...for a stock car?

Hey, cool.  Can you elaborate?  CGW into the Twin Cities, or traffic elsewhere on line?

I found, so far, a movement of six empties of the ATSF 68xxx, 69xxx cars from Sycamore to KC Union in '65 (train 41).

There is also another block of empty 2xxxx (plus one 68xxx car) cars going north from KC Union to Hayfield on the same day (train 42).
