For Ed and others,

Here is a link to some Conrail activity in upstate New York (Amsterdam) in the early 1980s.  It is actually about 20 miles from the location of my railroad.  Hope you enjoy.

Very nice Skip!

I went picking through that whole site and liked the FJ&G stuff as well.  I am currently building the Peerless mill that was in Johnstown. The same one that Lou Sassi did.

Ian,

I am currently building the FJ&G as best as I can in N scale.  Thats the reason for my logo.  There is an elist, FJGRailraod on Yahoogroups.  There are a lot of photos, but I don't recall if there is one of Peerless.  I can probably come up with more ifon on it if you need it, or you can ask on the group.

I think I have all of the photos I need right now. Lou published several in his last scenery book, and I was able to get some general area photos from MS Live maps in Birds Eye view. Too bad the mill is gone now.

Do you know of anyone who makes the FJ&G decals in HO?

Ian,

What decals are you looking for?  I assume for the S2s.  I am having some made now for N scale.  I'll see how that goes and they could probably be resized for HoHoHo scale.

Very cool Skip.  The "RR you can model" article in MR many years ago featuring the FJ&G is one of my all time favorite features of that kind.  Opened my eyes to the fact that prototype modeling does not have to mean modeling main line action.  The S2 paint scheme is a killer!!!  And a 44 tonner!  I understand what you mean about building "as best I can".  You've got your work cut out for you in N scale.

Someone send those pictures to Kato so they can ignore them!  What a great, atmospheric piece of railroading.
